Today’s Song: Paloma Faith - New York
I know I’ve mentioned I’d love to do Paris, and I’ve already been to London, but NYC is the other big one that every tourist dreams of flocking to when given the chance… I admit it… I don’t stray too far from that same group of lunatic snap-happy people. :]
New York, New York is on my list.
If it isn’t the shiny new york lights, the raw rumble of sporting games in Madison Square Garden or the great expanse of Central Park, New York’s more famous for its forbidden fruits than its fashion… and that’s something I’ve dreamed of tasting for a rather long time. ;]
Clubbing downtown, budgeting with food in Chinatown or getting into the glitz and glamour of New York Fashion Week… I’m up for all of it. :] And there’s a reason why.
It’s not the bright yellow taxis or the amazing old-world architecture… it’s quite simply the atmosphere and the character of a city that truly never sleeps. A cultural melting pot of the old and new worlds combined… What a masterpiece.
Of course there’s sights such as these below that I’ll be basking in the glory of, but it’s certainly not everything. :]
So now you know my BIG secret… I actually do want to visit the USA, despite often complaining how much I despise the country that’s indeed taking over the world. Yes, the American culture is everywhere… we’re all aware of the McDonald’s on the corner, at the station and in the shopping centres… they’re everywhere. But, that’s not what the USA is all about. It’s meant to be about this:
And I’m not sure that’s what it’s all about.. but in New York, “the city where dreams come true”, I think one would discover that there’s still many more freedoms in the Big Apple than in Middle America. Thank the heavens.
So that’s the giant reason I’m kicking to visit the supposed “greatest city in the world”. It may have something to do with it still being the city of the future (see image below), but New York City will always have a peace in my heart… even though I haven’t even been. :]
Can’t wait to step foot on Broadway and visit one of the world’s most famous zoo’s, to see where the club scene truly started and to dine 5-star at the Waldorf-Astoria. Bring it on ignorant Americans, because you know what…?
And I always will.
Make my dreams come true,
